Blog Posts That Make You Want to Travel

I first saw this post idea on Marcella’s blog, What A Wonderful World. She did an amazing job highlighting some lovely blog posts and destinations that really got your wanderlust going. Since it’s the start of summer and for a lot of people it’s vacation time, I thought this would be a great time to highlight some of my favorite “I want to go there!” posts.
While I’m still a “newbie” in the blogging world, I feel like I have made some great connections and friendships within this amazing, crazy community. It’s fun to read about different destinations and see photographs of beautiful places through someone else’s eyes, and it’s someone that you can relate to and probably have a lot in common with. I feel like since there is some sort of “womance” there (according to Urban Dictionary, it’s a thing), it makes reading about these destinations that much more fun, and in a way more “doable” as well.

So here are six recent blog posts about places around the world that will make you want to pack your bags and hop on a plane!

Destination:  The Taj Mahal (Agra, India)
Blog:  What A Wonderful World

I can only imagine what it would be like to see the Taj Mahal in person. From reading Marcella’s post and hearing how amazing her experience was, I can’t wait to visit Agra one day.

Destination:  The Great Barrier Reef (Queensland, Australia)
Blog:  Alkeks Abroad

Raise your hand if you have seen “Finding Nemo” (everyone should have their hand raised). Well, ever since that Pixar classic, I have always wanted to visit Australia and the Great Barrier Reef. While I’m not a big diver and the last time I went snuba I felt a little woozy, I would still love to snorkel the reef. After reading Courtney’s post, I was happy to learn that you can still have a great time on the surface of the water as well as under.

Destination:  Oia, Santorini, Greece
Blog:  The Overseas Escape

A while back I wrote a post about my European Bucket List and Santorini definitely made an appearance on it. I’m pretty sure I had Oia as my computer desktop picture and as my cell phone wallpaper back in high school and college, so you can say we go way back. Now, I just have to turn this fantasy into a reality and after seeing Margo’s sunset photographs, I am itching to go to Greece even more now.

Destination:  Howth, Ireland
Blog:  Sara Sees

Sara is currently studying abroad in Dublin and after reading all her Ireland posts, I really want to go back and explore more of the country. Jimmy and I have been to Dublin but our time there was far too short. I would love to drive around the surrounding areas and Howth, which is not far from Dublin, looks like the perfect starting point.

Destination:  Cinque Terre, Italy
Blog:  Wondermentary

Immediately after our most recent trip to Europe, I told Jimmy that we should hit up Italy for our next European adventure. While he’s still pushing for Norway/Sweden, I’m going to show him Jessica’s posts which should immediately do the trick. I mean c’mon, look at that water!

Destination:  Beijing, China
Blog:  Slightly Astray

Not only do I want to visit Beijing for its famous structures and fascinating culture but the foodie inside of me would love to visit just to eat some awesome food. If you’re new to Anna’s blog, I would recommend not reading her blog on an empty stomach. Also, did you know Beijing has fields and fields of beautiful tulips? Bonus!

  1. I love this idea for a post! That's the problem with connecting to all these amazing travel bloggers – my wish list of places to see just keeps growing and growing! I loved Margo's post on Santorini too – a big part of Michael's family is going on a cruise to Greece this summer, and that post is making me kick myself for not being able to join! Greece is one place in Europe we didn't make it to, and now I really want to change that!

  2. I love round up posts like this for discovering new travel blogs to follow as well as adding to the list of places I want to go and it's cool to compare my own experiences in the places I have been. I wish I could live in Margo's photos!

  3. Always love these posts because they make for great readings if I don't know the bloggers – and these destinations are so drool worthy aren't they? Gosh, I love reading blogs about lovely destinations and seeing the amazing photos!
